Course example
So, in the interests of providing a valid review, I found a module for those looking to setup their own online business called the Digital Bootcamp. This is a basic course covering a “step-by-step system you need to start and grow an online business, even if you’re a total beginner and don’t know where to start”.
It is run by Anik Singal (the founder) and consists of 10 modules running between 15 and 25 minutes in length giving you the basics knowledge of establishing an online business as below:
The videos are clear and concise and easy to listen to and I also have access to Q&A and the ability to bookmark sections.
Note: The outline above is for the course I accessed for free only, other courses will contain different and varied content dependent upon the cost and subject.
Pros
- A good array of courses that cover most areas of interest
- No need to download videos to view content
- Access to some of the best online marketing minds around
Cons
- Many courses are geared towards upsells
- Some courses are quite expensive
- No physical tools available
How much is it?
Free to join with extra costs on a pay per course basis.
Do I recommend Lurn?
This is a well know and trusted platform with a great array of courses so if you want to learn from some experts with actual runs on the board, then this is definitely one of your better options. The creator (Anik) is well-known and has built quite a good following in all other areas too.
The larger courses are expensive and will price a few people out of the game but I think if you were looking for a way to get started with your own online business, then this may work for you. This program is legit for sure!
Is there is a better alternative?
As above, I have found Lurn to be extremely effective and can certainly be of assistance to online marketers of all levels. However, when I compare it to the another alternative that is Wealthy Affiliate, then the one thing it does lack is the tools to turn the training into a reality.
I learned my affiliate marketing craft via this program that is free to test drive and only $49/month if you decide to stick around (there is an optional $99/month program but the $49 unlocks all the training and tools you need) which gives you:
- Online Entrepreneur Certification and Affiliate bootcamp training (120 Lessons – covering the 4 steps and much more)
- Domain purchase and management
- WordPress website creator and editor
- Super fast and secured web hosting for your websites
- Web hosting for up to 10 websites
- Access to Jaaxy keyword tool
- Access to Site Content – WA’s post writing and publishing tool and all templates
- Unlimited use of the Live Chat
- Access to Site Support.
- Private Message for 1-on-1 Coaching
- Access to weekly Live training and webinars
- SiteComment – get comments and engagement on your website
- SiteFeedback – get feedback on how your work is thus far
- SiteSpeed – makes your websites super fast to load, a ranking factor
- SiteProtect – amazing spam protection
- SSL Certificates
- Access to the Wealthy Affiliate profile blog
- Ability to make money on Wealthy Affiliate by creating your own training
- Access to founders Kyle & Carson via the yearly Super Affiliate Challenge
Compare that to some of Lurn’s course costs and the fact that all the web design tools you may need are here as well, you can learn so much more from Wealthy Affiliate to set up a life long online business.
How Wealthy Affiliate works – I.e. Why I recommend it
Wealthy affiliate teaches you how to build a profitable affiliate site in your passion (using blogging, YouTube and other strategies that are beginner friendly) with four simple steps:
Choose an Interest – Have you ever looked at someone else and said “How lucky are they that they get to work in area that they love!”. Well guess what, this is your opportunity to do the same.
Build a Website – A website is the tool we use to talk about our niche in order to earn income. And of course one the main purposes of Wealthy Affiliate is to assist you with this very step .
Attract Visitors – You may have heard terms such as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and keywords however again, this does not have to be complicated. And Wealthy Affiliate will teach you how to do it without purchasing traffic.
Earn Revenue – This is what it is all about – making money. Within in Wealthy Affiliate, you will get a clear blueprint, all the support/tools and help you need to make it work.
Conclusion
So there you have it – my take on Lurn.
